Cryolipolysis against fat: what is it?

 Cryolipolysis is a new technology that reduces fatty tissue selectively and non-invasively.

It is a simple technique without surgery, and therefore without scars, that requires no anaesthesia.

How does cryolipolysis work at Sama Wellness Brussels?

It is lipolysis by cold, in other words the destruction of fat cells caused by a cold temperature of around -5° Celsius.

Research dating from 2008 has shown that, under controlled conditions, subcutaneous fat cells are naturally more vulnerable to the effects of cold than other tissues.

Neighbouring structures, such as blood vessels or the nervous system, are by comparison much less sensitive to cold and are therefore preserved.

This characteristic allows the natural breakdown of adipocytes without damaging the adjacent tissues.

What are the contraindications for cryolipolysis?

Cryoglobulinaemia (cryoglobulins in the blood), cold urticaria, Raynaud's disease, hernia, pregnancy and breastfeeding, wearing an electronic device, eczema, injury or inflammation of the treated area.  
Cryolipolysis is also not recommended for people with thyroid disorders (hypo-/hyperthyroidism). If in doubt, however, we recommend you seek the advice of your doctor.
